What to do at YALC | Bloomsbury Stand Exclusive

If you are at YALC this weekend, then organisation is key. Coming from someone who has attended the last 6 years, I plan my day out to the minute as to not miss any of my favourite authors, ARC drops or workshops. For this reason, I have teamed up with Bloomsbury to let you know everything that is going on at their stand, everything from what samplers they're offering, author meet ups and Harry Potter backdrop photo ops!

There are 5 authors from Bloomsbury on the line-up this year who you can meet personally to get your books signed, as well as hear speaking at panels.

  • Win a signed copy of Kingdom of Ash

There is a new backing cloth for the stand this year which features loads of our favourite Bloomsbury YA quotes (and of course some Harry Potter ones as well) and there will be a competition to match up the most quotes with book titles.

The competition will be running across the weekend and there will be handouts on the Bloomsbury stand with the quotes on where people can write the correct title next to the quote and then handback in by the end of YALC on Sunday. The person to guess the most correct quotes will win a singed copy of Kingdom of Ash along with some other Kingdom of Ash goodies. If there is multiple entries that get every quote correct then we’ll choose a winner at random.

  • Exclusive A Heart So Fierce and Broken proof giveaway

5 lucky people will be chosen to win the brand new book from Brigid Kemmerer. Attendees simply need to take a photo of the proof displayed in a glass dome, with a white rose, which will be placed on the Bloomsbury stand all weekend and then post the photo on Twitter with the hashtag #CURSEBREAKER and #YALC2019 to be in with a chance of winning. Winners will be chosen at random.

  •  £100 Worth of Books

Pick up the beautiful YALC exclusive booklet from the stand. The booklet is crammed full of Q&A’s, extracts and plenty of treats! In the back of the booklet there will also be a competition to win £100 worth of Bloomsbury YA titles.

Harry Potter Photo

To celebrate the forthcoming release of Jim Kay’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Illustrated edition there will be  a giant roller banner with exclusive artwork of the Harry Potter dragon from the Triwizard tournament for people to take photos with.

  • You can meet Karen Gregory at the stand at 3.30 on Friday and get your copy of her brand new book, I Hold Your Heart signed.
  • Samplers of the first few chapters of the unmissable YA fantasy of 2020, Havenfall by Sara Holland for people to take from the Bloomsbury stand
